If you have previously read my story on my teenage years living with nodular cystic acne, then you will love this post!
If you have not read it I would suggest taking a look at it to understand how amazed I am at the results of this treatment.
There is hope!! Do not take Accutane! That will be a whole different post on the effects of taking the drug called “Accutane” so stay tuned for that one to come! Its pretty intense, but when your desperate because nothing is working I opted for it.
Anyways, back to the positive IPL Photofacial!
Anyone that has had cystic acne or sun damage can have severe scarring, larger pores, and excessive redness.
Luckily there is a solution! Although it is a little costly, I think its worth doing because the results are tremendous and there is little to no down time.
Here is a little history on what the “IPL Photo facial” is:
IPL stands for “Intesnse Pulsed Light” which uses a computer to generate pulses of light that heat up and penetrate deep into the subcutaneous layers of skin. It reverses brown spots, shrinks pores, and erases broken capillaries (plus so many more positive results).
Im not going to lie, this is not a pleasant “facial” GET THE NUMBING CREAM! I did not have the numbing cream the first time because I thought a “facial” isn’t going to hurt, but wow! Trust me, spend the extra money and get there thirty minutes early to let it numb the entire area being treated. However the numbing cream
The second time I had the numbing cream and it still wasn’t a fun feeling, but way better than without!
I cant wait to get my third treatment! There are several places that do them in your area, I would suggest just putting in a google search for “IPL Photofacial” and read some yelp reviews.
If the price seems too good to be true it usually is and the technician can severely burn you or cause more damage and the point is to erase or diminish the unwanted damage not get more!! All I am trying to say is do your research and go in for a consultation.
Here is my before Picture before any of my Photofacials.
Notice all of the Texture, large pores, excessive redness, breakouts, uneven skintone.
Here is Day one right after my first treatment.
It felt like I had an intense sunburn for a few hours after the treatment but it subsided soon after. So in this picture it really doesn’t even look like I had a treatment done to my face. Wait for day two and three!
Here is day two:
The brown spots are starting to surface!
Here is Day three!
More brown spots being lifted away! Nothing a full coverage foundation can’t cover if you are going to work, just make sure to wear a high spf and it wouldn’t hurt to have spf in your makeup as well.
It is best to not wear any makeup, but I was working at MAC Cosmetics at the time of these treatments so of course I had to wear makeup!
So by Day four, the brown spots were completely lifted away. There is still some redness, but the technicians usually advise on several treatments depending on the results you are looking for.
I cant wait to get my next IPL photofacial and I will make sure to update with more pictures about my journey.
