I love a good black Smokey eye so I thought I would show you how fun and easy it is in this makeup tutorial.
I’ll never forget the first day I mastered the “Smokey Eye” look. I had always wanted to do it, but I always made it look like I had two black eyes instead of a well blended smokey eye. My friend Jr. taught me how to do it when I was working at the Downtown LA MAC store. Although he had to teach me over and over again and was so patient in showing me his technique, I finally got it!
I will always be so grateful for Jr’s help!!
There are many ways to do a smokey eye, but this one is for sure my favorite!!

Here are a few tips and products I used to achieve this look:
I like to start with my eyes first! Especially with a black smokey eye, just in case there is any fall out from the dark shadows. The fall out can easily be cleaned up with a makeup wipe before starting on highlighting and contouring like I show in the video. I only use four colors to make this smokey eye look easy and professional.
- Saddle- a neutral warm brown tone to create the crease
- Brownscript- a brick warm toned brown to deepen the color saddle that was just put on
- Blacktrack- a gel black eyeliner to put on to hold the black shadow
- Carbon- a super black matte eyeshadow to lay on top of the blacktrack
Add any pair of lashes and boom, you have a perfect smokey eye look for a night out on the town!
